Beauty Review: MUFE HD Microfinish Powder

NOTE: Try this product at your own risk. If it works for me, it does not mean it will work for you too. Everyone has different types of skin. My skin consists of dry -combination - sensitive type of skin. Also if you are allergic to Silica Powder, please don't use this! If irritation occurs while using this product, stop immediately and consult a dermatologist!

Image and Information from: Sephora.com

MAKE UP FOREVER HD MICROFINISH POWDER

According to Sephora.com, MUFE HD MICROFINISH POWDER is a universal transulent powder to be applied over foundation or worn alone. Sets the foundation and slightly mattifies skin without changing its natural contours.

This 100% mineral silica powder softens the appearance of imperfections. Completely evens out the complexion for a glowing, radiant look. One universal shade for all skin tones. It's completely translucent and goes on any skintone. Its talc-free formula does not dry the skin and is formulated with 100% silica. Dermatologically tested.

PROS:
  • Very sheer coverage, so lightweight. You won't even feel that you are wearing any powder
  • Anybody can wear it! Any skintone! It won't leave you that "white cast" that sometimes appear on the pictures when you are wearing a foundation or powder
  • Does not have any weird smell
  • It's dermatologically tested, and I didn't break out using it
  • Looks really great in pictures. Looks like I have small pores. Yes it's a Pore Minimizer
  • Skin feels so soft and smooth whenever I use this
  • Makes my skin looking flawless without the heaviness of a foundation
  • Keeps your skin looking matte and not oily
  • Great for oily skin - it absorbs oil!
  • Its long lasting. I didn't have to re-apply this powder, considering I work 16 hours at times

I am wearing the MUFE HD Microfinish Powder in this picture.

I am also wearing the MUFE HD Microperfecting Primer in Blue and you can read my review here: http://withadriyah.blogspot.com/2009/08/beauty-review-mufe-hd-microperfecting.html

CONS:
  • Very expensive. For $30, I personally think you can get the same product somewhere else like M.A.C. or Coastalscents as I believe Silica powder will be always Silica Powder whatever the brand is. But then I could be wrong. I tried the M.A.C. Powder and feels the same as my MUFE Powder but I got the MUFE one just because I have the Sephora discount they sent me.
  • Very messy. The Powder can go anywhere. If you are wearing a black dress/shirt, it will go all over it, and will look like you have a dandruff problem ;/
  • Can be drying. When you have dry skin, make sure to use a very creamy moisturizer before putting this

OVERALL:
  • It is a decent powder. I like it very much, but like I said, you can get this cheaper somewhere else. Of course it won't be "MAKE UP FOREVER" but then its the same Silica Powder. I'm just being honest. After I finish this, I will probably purchase the M.A.C. one. But if I get another discount, I will probably get this again. I like the effect it gives whenever I take pictures. Looks like I have flawless skin, and yes I don't have flawless skin! TRUST ME!

DSK Pegasus Haul + Personal Update

Hello again.. It's been so long since I updated my blog.. and I don't really blog hop. I have been busy.. work, outside life, family.. :)

Anyway, I received my DSK Pegasus last Monday and wasn't able to post it right away. I was going to wait for my other DSK haul but that's for my mother. It's her birthday on Sept 19 so I thought I'd get her some DSK Jewelries since she's also a fan of DSK :)

Visit her Jewelry Store:

DSK Pegasus in Light Rose Heart and Black Diamond Pegasus
Isn't beautiful? The picture doesn't do any justice. You should see it in person!

Look how big the Pegasus is. Ohhh I love it. For me, it means
ANGELIC. yet. STRONG.

She gave me extras. Yay!!! I love DSK! :) She gave me some Aquafina lip balm, and OMG total HG status. Now, gotta find some and stock some more.. :)

She gave me this lovely bow earrings. So pretty. I got compliments at work wearing this pretty pearl earrings. ^^

I highly suggest to place your order now while some items are on sale!! :)

This is my 1st DSK Necklace called the Black Rose Necklace. Very pretty!

I will post what I bought for my mom once I pick it up at the post office :) Her birthstone is Sapphire so I ordered a Pegasus as well for her! I'm so excited ^^

Anyway, on to more personal stuff.. Guess what..

I GOT BRACES.
Yup, they're ceramics. You can't tell really unless you look closely because the brackets are the same color as my teeth, well except for the wire.

If you zoom it, you can probably see it more. That's why I smile weird now. and yes they're so painful, I can't eat. :( Adrian also got braces. Same as mine. They haven't put the bottom part because that would be later. The bottom part will be metal brackets btw.

Any foodies you brace faces recommend? :P

Last Wednesday, I went to MetroPark and bought this shirt. So cute. It says,
TALK NERDY TO ME
lol. Love it!

Then yesterday [Thursday], we went to You and I Thai Restaurant located at Anaheim, Ca. These are the foods we ordered + combination fried rice [not pictured]. The place is decent. Clean. The rest room is not that clean, however, the food is great. Prices are also great. They have lunch special for $5.95 per meal which isn't that bad. The servers are attentive as well.

Recommended. :)

..and lastly, since I'll be going to San Francisco on Sept 05-07, I decided to go on a NO-MAKE-UP-BUY! It's been a week since I last hauled any make up items. So far so good. I'm planning to do this for 2 months. Until Oct 16, 2009. Hopefully I'll be successful.

I went to the MAC Counter with my sister in law because she's going to exchange something. I saw the new Quads from the Make Up Art Collections and I saw 2 Quads that I want. SO TEMPTING I TELL YA!! But I didn't buy it.

When I got home, I went to my palettes and decided to put my own Quad together. lol. Are they similar enough? Haha!

My Version of the PHOTO REALISM Quad!

Above: Vanilla and Juxt
Below: Swimming and Humid

My Version of Notoriety Quad!

Above: Chill and Bold & Brazen
Below: Gorgeous Gold and Brown Down

What you guys think? :) Happy Friday!! Hope you guys have a good day today! As for me, it's now my "Monday" and might work 16 hours. :/ and my upper teeth is so painful right now. :(

Beauty Review: MUFE HD Microperfecting Primer in Blue

NOTE: Try this product at your own risk. If it works for me, it does not mean it will work for you too. Everyone has different types of skin. My skin consists of dry -combination - sensitive type of skin.

Images and Information from Sephora.com

MAKE UP FOREVER HD MICROPERFECTING PRIMER

According to Sephora.com, these primers are lightweight, oil-free complexion corrector that enhances the skin's texture and primes the skin for make up application.

HD Microperfecting Primer deeply nourishes, moisturizes, and softens the skin, creating a glowing effect. Creates a protective layer on the skin allowing foundation to glide on easily and last longer.

I chose the BLUE one which claims to add radiance to fair skin and reduces minor imperfections. So what I do, after washing my face with my regular cleanser, I apply this primer all over my face and smooth it out using my bare hands.

Did you notice how my skin looked brighter in this picture? I really love this primer! It works real good and it does what it says.

PROS:
  • Ohh! I love this primer! It does what it says, it brightens up my skin, smoothens it and makes it real soft. There's no scent whatsoever and it didn't break me out. The texture is not silicone-y which is why I like it. This Primer is smooth and easy to apply. It makes my face looks flawless and trust me, my skin far from being flawless. I have so much flaws you don't want to see. lol. I like how it reduces redness and corrects minor imperfections. And yes its very lightweight and fast absorbing too! It also has high rating on Sephora.com

CONS:
  • Probably the price? Haha! I'm cheap :P Also if you think it will hide the acne scars on your skin, then you'd be disappointed. It only corrects minor imperfections such as redness in your skin. Other than that, I can't think of anymore CONS. I suggest if you want to try it, ask for a sample 1st before buying the full size.

OVERALL:
  • I would definitely buy it again! You saw the difference through my pictures! Huge difference! It brightens up my face too much, I look like I sleep all the time because my skin actually looks refreshed! For a girl who rarely sleeps, this is what we need! :) I bought the PINK one and I can't wait to do a review about it.

UPDATE: Aug 22, 2009
I didn't work 16 hours today that's why I was able to do a Beauty Review! Hooray! What do you guys think of my Beauty Reviews? I did tons already which is located on the side bar. Just click any of the product names you wished to view.

I'm sure you guys read my the wish list I created. I am so thankful that I got almost all of it, thanks to you guys! I got the Fresh Cut Palette from J.Rose and I can't thank her enough. I also got the M.A.C. Studio Moisture Tint which I'm loving so much. I need a back up. hahaha! :) And yes, I have not gotten the Clarisonic yet. I am still thinking and researching before I spend that much money on it. But I might because our skin is very important. Good Skin = less make up.

Beauty Review: Revlon Runway Collection

Note: This is just my own opinion. Use it at your own risk.

REVLON RUNWAY COLLECTION
has these elegant artificial nails for a cheap price. I was given the opportunity to try them and here's my review about it.

It has been a year since I last wore artificial nails. Yes they can get really pricey! $40 + in a salon every 3 weeks can make you broke. Also I can't wear them at work for hygienic purposes [I work in a hospital] but I was given an opportunity to try them out and I thought, why not! Could be fun! ;]

PROS:
  • They are cheaper compare to salon prices
  • You can always try out different designs without breaking the bank
  • They are short so its work appropriate
  • They look nice and feel like salon artificial nails
  • They are easy to put on
  • Colors of the nails almost look like real nails
  • They're thick and strong
  • The set comes with a nail file, very strong glue, and an orange stick to remove excess glue
  • It lasts up to 10 days without worrying about breaking your nails
CONS:
  • Some of the nails, you need to re-size or buff to fit on your nails. The one they had for my pinkie was too wide
  • The glue dries out quick and got to my skin, I thought my skin would get ripped ;/ Be careful when using the glue. Its super glue! Very strong!
  • Need a very strong acetone to take it off
  • If you are not careful, air bubbles can get underneath your artificial nails

OVERALL:

I have always been fascinated with square looking nails because it looks really elegant but my nails are naturally round, and sometimes I file them to make it look square, still not satisfied with how it look so I used to get artificial nails at the salon. The problem is, it makes my natural nails so brittle plus its expensive.

But I was given the chance to try these Revlon Nails and I must say, I'm so impressed. They don't make my natural nails as brittle as like the salon nails. They are short and work appropriate so I doubt it if they will ever notice I was wearing fake nails.

I would definitely purchase it again for important dates and occasions. These sets are great if you are planning on just wearing it for a week and not spending too much money on great nails.

FAQs & DIY Brush Guards

FAQs [FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS]

Some of you guys asked me these questions frequently so here goes:

1. "Where did you get that Hello Kitty container?"
  • The Steralite drawers came from TARGET then I bought some Hello Kitty papers at Michaels and decorated the container with it. I believe they don't sell the Pink containers no more. I saw some Blue and Green there though.

2. "What brand is your Mirror and Where did you buy it? Is it bright?"
  • The brand is called Homedics and we got it at Costco and it costs $39.99 + tax. It has incandescent illumination and its not that bright. In my opinion, you still need a separate lamp when doing your make up at night.

3. "How do you take care of your hair?"
  • I only use heat tools [straighteners, blow driers, curlers] once a week or sometimes even once a month. I try not to! If I do, I use a Tresemme heat protector before using any heat tools. As much as possible, I let my hair air dry. I condition my hair everyday and keep a wide angled hair brush in the bathroom so after I condition my hair, I ran that brush to my hair to untangle it. Hair is very fragile when wet so be very careful. Towel dry, but remember to just pat it gently. Don't rub! They tend to get split in the ends when you do that. Try to not use any rubber bands when your hair is wet.

--

4. "Where did you get the beads inside your brush holder?"
  • I bought the beads at Michael's.

--

5. "Did you Eskinol Pearl worked for you?"
  • Unfortunately I lost it, and can't find it and wasn't able to get another one yet. Will update this sometime soon.
--

6. "What CCO do you go to and what are the collections they have right now?"
  • I go to the one near me which is the Ontario Mills Mall. They currently have Dame Edna Palettes, Heatherette Palettes and BP, and Emmanuel Ungaro stuff.
--

7. "Why do you buy so much make up?"
  • I really don't know. I know I'm an addict. That's all. ^^
--

8. "Where do you buy all your Japanese products?"
  • I buy them at Marukai or Mitsuwa which are all located at Orange County

--

9. "Where did you buy the Laneige Strawberry Yogurt Peel?"
--

10. "How do you make DIY Brush Holders?"
  • I actually got this idea from a fellow blogger who deleted her blog and videos. Her name is ilurvemakeup and she did this tutorial before on her blog.

Materials:
Any paper you chose
Your make up brush
Scissors
Scotch Tapes

Cut the paper in any size you want

Roll it the size of your brush then tape the ends

Roll it on your brush to see if it fits. If it doesn't, make adjustments

I also decorated the end of my make up brush with this HK tape

This is how it looks like when you roll it down

Enjoy your paper brush guards! :) Be creative and use different papers.

Let me know if you guys have any more questions and I'll be glad to add it in here :) Have a good day!
